Cloning and Characterization of Putative Vomeronasal Receptor Genes in Mouse

چکیده

Vertebrate olfaction comprises two anatomically distinct systems: the main olfactory system, which responds generally to environmental odorants, and the vomeronasal system, which transduces species-specific cues into stereotyped behavior. Although molecular characterization of the vomeronasal system has lagged a few years behind that of the main olfactory system, putative phermone receptor genes were recently cloned in rat, and their expression pattern in the vomeronasal organ (VNO) characterized by in situ hybridization (Dulac and Axel, 1995). Here, several murine vomeronasal receptor genes are cloned by homology with rat and confirmed to be expressed in the VNO; in addition, progress is made towards determining whether these genes are allelically inactivated, as has been found for the family of seven transmembrane domain proteins expressed in the main olfactory epithelium (MOE) (Chess et al., 1994). Pheromone transduction in the vomeronasal organ.

Single-cell physiology and cloning efforts have extended studies of the vomeronasal organ to cellular and molecular levels. Recent work has shown that transduction in the vomeronasal organ is probably mediated by signalling pathways distinct from those that mediate transduction in the main olfactory system. An advance in understanding transduction has come with the cloning from rat vomeronasal ...

Effect of lysophosphatidic acid on the follicular development and the ‎expression of lysophosphatidic acid receptor genes during in vitro culture of ‎mouse ovary

Lysophosphatidic acid (LPA) known as a serum-derived growth factor, is involved in several cell physiological functions in the female reproductive system including: oocyte maturation, in vitro fertilization and embryo implantation by its transmembrane G protein-coupled receptors. The aim of the present study was to examine the effect of LPA on in vitro follicular development o...

Physiological characterization of formyl peptide receptor expressing cells in the mouse vomeronasal organ

The mouse vomeronasal organ (VNO) is a chemosensory structure that detects both hetero- and conspecific social cues. Based on largely monogenic expression of either type 1 or 2 vomeronasal receptors (V1Rs/V2Rs) or members of the formyl peptide receptor (FPR) family, the vomeronasal sensory epithelium harbors at least three neuronal subpopulations. While various neurophysiological properties of ...

Cloning and Characterization of cbhII Gene fromTrichoderma parceramosum and Its Expressionin Pichia pastoris

The genomic and cDNA clones encoding cellobiohydrolase II (CBHII) have been isolated and sequenced from a native Iranian isolate of Trichoderma parceramosum, a high cellulolytic enzymes producer isolate. This represents the first report of cbhII gene from this organism. Comparison of genomic and cDNA sequences indicates this gene contains three short introns and also an open reading frame codin...

Identification of V1R-like putative pheromone receptor sequences in non-human primates. Characterization of V1R pseudogenes in marmoset, a primate species that possesses an intact vomeronasal organ.

The vomeronasal organ (VNO) is responsible in terrestrial vertebrates for the sensory perception of some pheromones, chemicals that elicit characteristic behaviors among individuals of the same species. Two multigene families (V1R, V2R) that encode proteins with seven putative transmembrane domains that are expressed selectively in different neuron subsets of the VNO have been described in rode...
